I think it is fair to say that we’ve been “stalking” Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen ever since he passed away last February, since we were so depressed and worried that we will never see this level of genius ever again because he was so unique and one of his kind. Fortunately, Sarah Burton gave us peace of mind and put us all in awe by putting her creative spin (as a cherry) on top of Alexander McQueen’s legacy.
Sarah Burton was born in 1974 in Macclesfield, Cheshire. Like many other famous designers, she also went to Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London. She interned at Alexander McQueen during her third year of school and then joined the company full-time upon graduation at 1997.
From intern to personal assistant to head of womenswear in 2000 and then to creative director in 2010, Sarah Burton eats, sleeps, breaths the air of this label for all these years. If only we knew her credentials and how hot-wired she is to the brand we wouldn’t have to worry, we would know that she can do amazing things.
Congratulations! Sarah Burton for getting this award from British Fashion Awards! Let’s look back at some of the amazing pieces she had done since she became creative director!
